Reminder: EMS Annual Meeting, 02–06 Sep 2024, Barcelona and online: Call for abstracts open until 18 April 2024
Dear colleague,
The 2024 Annual Meeting of the European Meteorological Society will take place as a hybrid event at the University of Barcelona & online from 2 to 6 September 2024. The Programme and Science Committee together with conveners has developed a session programme that will offer many opportunities for collaboration across the entire weather and climate enterprise. We invite the community to join us for discussions and networking. A special focus will be on The role of weather and climate research in the achievement of a climate-neutral Europe. The conference will also see celebrations of the 25-year anniversary of the EMS and some special presentations and festive activities are planned. Abstract submission is open until 18 April: https://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/ems2024/sessionprogramme
The format
Following the format of the EMS2023, we will keep the hybrid setting for the oral sessions, and foresee poster sessions onsite in Barcelona. For more details please consult the information on the meeting format page.
Closing dates
- 18 April 2024: abstract submission
- 18 April 2024: application for registration fee waiver and Tromp foundation conference award to young scientists (TFTAYS)
For more details on the support applications, see: https://www.ems2024.eu/about/support.html
Further opportunities
We would like to draw your attention to the following awards and deadlines:
- EMS Young Scientist Award 2024: 21 April 2024
- EMS Tromp Award for an outstanding achievement in biometeorology 2024: 30 April 2024
- Three EMS Media Awards: 25 May 2024
Abstract submission: poster contest participation & agreement to publication of recorded talks
- The Outstanding Poster Award is announced: we ask all authors at abstract submission to indicate whether you would like to participate in that contest should you be assigned a poster presentation.
- In the feedback from EMS2023, many participants expressed the wish to have recordings of the oral lectures made available after the conference. Thus, for EMS2024 we would like to record the oral sessions and provide the recordings on the EMS YouTube channel afterwards. This requires that all presenters explicitly state whether they agree to such a publication or not, should they be assigned an oral presentation. The agreement has to be given at the time of submitting the abstract, but can be changed afterwards. For details see: https://www.ems2024.eu/about/rules_of_conduct.html
Practical information
We would be delighted if you would inform your colleagues about these opportunities and distribute the call for abstracts to your networks.
We look forward to receiving your contributions and seeing you in Barcelona or online.
